The First 100!

I feel that when you have typed 100 pages of the novel you are writing, this is cause for celebration. I've reached this milestone on the third novel in the Mary Mack series. In theses trying times,  I think it is important to celebrate the little victories, because God knows, good news of any kind is few and far between.  In my basement, I always like to have a bottle of champagne just in case something good happens ( I'm also a big fan of brunch). The simple act of having that bottle is like a reminder that fires can't burn forever and even in the middle of a crap storm, there is an eye of a hurricane where there will be a peaceful pause. If you don't acknowledge that pause, it will go away without you realizing it ever existed and your life will seem like an endless train, hauling manure while on fire.
I am far from an optimist by a long shot but I do believe in data and science and the science always shows things run  out of energy. This goes for good and bad  and there is a wave pattern to everything which in my opinion means things go bad and good in an up and down pattern. The only thing that you can do is   predict the wave pattern and get ready for it. As someone once told me:  'When things are good, prepare for the bad, when things are bad, prepare for the good.' I'm not saying go around acting like a pessimist, but if you plan anything,  account for that stupid thing (or person) to come along and mess everything up, you'll literally have a foolproof plan. When that wave hits the beach, you can challenge it and maybe wipe out, you can stand still and get slammed or you can ride it like a pro suffer. My version of confront it, ignore it or accept it.
So, hang in there and stay on top of the wave. Yes, things suck for now but who knows: Fire, storms, terrible politicians, pandemics:  Nothing last or lives forever.
